The Bates College Museum of Art exhibition presents a wide array of paintings, drawings, prints & sculptures by one of Maine's best-known artists, Dahlov Ipcar. Drawn mainly from private collections, the works represent periods spanning the artist's entire career. any of the works in A Life in the Arts are exhibited publicly for the first time. Ipcar, the daughter of prominent modernist artists, Marguerite & William Zorach, reached a wide audience through the many children's books she wrote and illustrated. In 1939, Ipcar was the first woman and the youngest artist to date–to be featured in a solo exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art. We will enjoy lunch at Davincis Italian Eatery prior to the museum.
