Join Mousam River STEM Academy for an after-school STEM series called:
Fantasy Cartography
Kids’ Mapmakers Guild
In this 4-week mini-course, kids design their own fantasy maps while learning real cartography basics. We’ll learn about scale, add a compass rose, and build a clear legend. Each week introduces landforms (mountains, rivers, islands, forests, swamps, dunes) and easy techniques for placement and flow. Students practice with rulers and grids, then finish with inking, shading, and color for a display-ready map. Perfect for creative kids who love drawing, worldbuilding, and hands-on STEM.
Program Information
- Participants will leave for Mousam River Stem Academy promptly and directly from KES and SRS with a member of the Parks & Recreation Department.
- 4:30pm parent pick-up will be at Mousam River Stem Academy: 1013 Old North Berwick Rd, Alfred, ME 04002
